Houston, we have a problem.

Houston, we have a problem.

excatholic4christ

We’ve all seen the images on our TV screens and heard the reports of the catastrophic (to put it mildly) damage to Houston and the east coast of Texas caused by Hurricane Harvey, which continues to rage. My heart goes out to the thousands and thousands of people who are struggling because of this natural disaster.

There is much beauty in this world but there is also much uncertainty and danger. We are surrounded by disease, illness, poverty, natural calamities, accidents, hatred, warfare, and death. We live in an imperfect, fallen world; fallen because of sin. But God loves us so much He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into this world to pay for our sins on the cross. Jesus rose from the grave, defeating sin and death, and offers eternal life and fellowship with God to all those who repent of their sins and accept Him as Savior by faith…

Politics, Good Or Bad?

Insights From Tom

Politics

Political ‘discussions’ go on all the time, everywhere a person goes. Turn on the tv to any channel and you will hear something about politics. Watch any tv show or movie and there will nearly always be some political point in it. Walk into the break room at work and someone is usually there giving a political opinion. Read the FB feeds and people are talking about something political, for or against. Some say it is bad, others say it is good.

Politics are a part of life. All politics are just the activities of a government or governing authority over a given area. Government is required. If no one is overseeing what is going on, there will be chaos.

Judges 21:25 New International Version (NIV)

There was a time in Israel when they had no…

Spiritual Abuse Sanctuary

imagesLYT3SC4X

Let me preface this post by saying I don’t belong to Facebook, or Pal Talk. I used to belong to Pal Talk a number of years ago. In the beginning I found a group where one could worship the LORD JESUS, and felt the Holy Spirit moving amongst those who gathered there. But that group disbanded for some reason. Since then, lets just say it seems to have become a haunt for every evil spirit out there, with constant infighting, insults, mud slinging and “bouncing out of the room” or “red dotting”, those who disagreed with, or questioned, even innocently, something the speaker is saying. And this, mind you, happens in “Christian” rooms.

After several bad experiences, I decided it wasn’t a healthy environment for spiritual growth and/or fellowship and so, I left and moved on.

Now, about Facebook, as I said, I never felt led to join, and having…

Startling Proofs – Does God Really Exist

The Most Underrated Word of the Bible

The Most Underrated Word of the Bible

The Surpassing Worth

Three little letters that encompass everything. Literally. If you read too fast, you might miss it, robbing yourself of the full glory of its meaning.

Other words get a lot more attention. But for my money, the word all is the most underrated word of the Bible. Used mostly as an adjective, we can easily pass over it on the way to the word it describes. Or we can easily downplay its full extent, not really believing the word all can really mean ALL.

But the word all and what it means is worth more meditation than we often give it. So next time you’re reading and come across this little word, I encourage you to take a moment to pause and ponder in your heart the fullness, the completeness, and the totality of what it means.

Below are a list of 20 of my favorite all verses in the…

NAR, Trump and Brownbeck

EngleFTA: Now, under the Trump administration, NAR leaders have gained unprecedented access to the White House, due to their support of him before and since the election. See, for example, this Aug. 4 article from Religion Dispatches, titled “A President ‘Anointed by God’: POTUS Shield and Religious Right’s Affair With Trump.” If Gov. Brownback could get a NAR-originated resolution signed into law, one wonders what other agendas NAR leaders may be able to accomplish with a new president more disposed to cater to them.

Are you waiting until tomorrow to put your faith in Jesus?

Pilgrim’s Progress revisited - Christiana on the narrow way

2 Corinthians 6

We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says:

“In an acceptable time I have heard you,
And in the day of salvation I have helped you.”

Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

This is from a sermon by a British preacher, Charles Spurgeon. I modernized the English.

“Now”

http://www.romans45.org/spurgeon/sermons/0603.htm

The great fault of most men is that they put things off until ‘tomorrow’. It’s not that they are determined to be damned, but that they are determined to be saved tomorrow.  It’s not that they reject Christ forever, but that they reject Christ today; and really they might as well reject him forever, as to continue to always reject him “now.” Sinner, let me put your “now” before you as a man, that is…
