Reblogged from Heavenly Springs:
Christian author and scholar, Os Guinness, describes what he sees as the greatest challenge facing the Western church. Though brief, this little video is packed with insight. We are, he argues, at a place Martin Luther would describe as, "Babylonian captivity." Also, check out this interview, conducted by Justin Taylor, in which Guinness discusses his book The Last Christian on Earth…

It seems that we, today, are becoming increasingly familiar with the sentiments and struggles of our Forefathers. The tip of the spear of tyranny has penetrated the shield of self government that our Founders established; not from an oppressive or cunning enemy of foreign origins, but the sole result of an apathetic and ignorant citizenry. John Adams said, “The Constitution was made for a Moral and Religious People; It is wholly inadequate for any other.” For those who attended modern public schools, his meaning was this: In order for a People to govern themselves they must understand they are responsible to their Creator for their own self discipline.

Video: What Our Founding Fathers Learned from Ancient Israel
Good grief! I love the first video, but I wonder when I will have the time to view the rest.
What I wish Guinness had mentioned is the role of government in ejecting Christianity from the upper echelons of our society.
It is an odd thing, but Christianity first spread amongst the poor. Then it gained respectability among the elites. Unfortunately, the elites sought to corrupt it. Thus, from time-to-time we must reform the church. This, I think, constitutes one of those times.
I agree! Nevertheless, the true Church must work on while it is day. Our government doesn’t want our God anymore and so he is letting it be so. He’s letting our nation head for the cliff due to the blind guides the people want leading them.
God bless you, Tom~
