Cairo (AsiaNews / Agencies) – The radical Muslims are trying to empty a village near Alexandria of its Coptic population – 62 families, on the basis of unfounded allegations against a Copt.

(AINA) — National and international rights groups have consistently criticized the recourse to the so-called “reconciliation meetings” — dubbed “Bedouin sittings” — that take place between Copts and Muslim assailant after every attack on Copts. The meetings are conducted under the auspices of state security. Last week a series of meetings were held by radical Muslims to decide on the fate of the Copts in a village in Alexandria, and Muslims insisted that the whole Coptic population of 62 families must be deported because of an unsubstantiated accusation levied against one Coptic man.

The terms of the agreement which resulted were:
- eviction of eight Coptic families, namely three of the Mourad families, in addition to five Soliman families.
- selling of the assets of the wealthy Abeskhayron Soliman family within three months by a committee, under the supervision of Salafi shaikh Sherif el Hawary. Soliman has no right to get involved in the sale or even accompany a prospective buyer.
- the Committee is to collect any money accrued from the sale of his land, properties, businesses as well as collect promissory notes pending from business transactions by the Soliman-owned chain of stores.
- in case of non-implementation of this Agreement, all Copts in the Kobry-el-Sharbat village will be attacked, their homes and property completely torched.
Meanwhile they hold one of our Cabinet members son and plan on trying him for promoting Democracy.
And Obama could care less it seems…

But something kept nagging at me on a gut level. Something about all of this didn’t quite feel right. The Arab Spring, which I supported, started to degenerate into the Islamist Winter, and I grew more and more concerned. I flew back to Nashville to shoot a conference on whether or not Islam was conducive with Democratic Values and on the way to my hotel room I learned that my cab driver was from Egypt. I asked him how he felt about the fall of Mubarak, a dictator worth over $70 billion dollars while so much of his country was living in poverty and he told me he was concerned. Concerned? Wasn’t this good news? The cab driver was a Coptic Christian and he told me that he feared for his family back home. “If the Muslims take control, and they will, it will be very dangerous for my parents and my sisters. I’m scared for them right now”. After that conversation, I started to pay more attention to the news coming from the Islamic world in the Middle East.
Given the incredible density of the popular Liberal mind, how the readers of my articles were unable to see how the beliefs of Islam were in direct conflict with human rights, gay rights, women’s rights and basic Democratic Values, I wrote a final piece called, “Are You In Favor of Human Rights?” and that one of course got me banned from Daily Kos.

Indeed, we in the region, who are struggling for real democracy, not for the one time election type of democracy have been asking ourselves since January 2011 as the winds of Arab spring started blowing, why isn’t the West in general and the United States Administration in particular clearly and forcefully supporting our civil societies and particularly the secular democrats of the region? Why were the bureaucracies in Washington and in Brussels partnering with Islamists in the region and not with their natural allies the democracy promoting political forces?

Egypt presses ahead with NGO trial of Americans
CAIRO (AP) — The trial of 16 Americans and 27 others opens Sunday at a Cairo courthouse in what critics say is a politically charged case linked to a government crackdown on nonprofit groups that has touched off the deepest crisis in U.S.-Egyptian relations in decades.
A senior U.S. official said Saturday the Obama administration is in “intense discussions” with Egypt to resolve the legal case “in the coming days.”
Freedom House President David J. Kramer said this month that the charges against the NGOs indicates that freedom in Egypt “has only gotten worse” under Mubarak’s appointed ruling generals who took power after the longtime authoritarian leader was toppled.
“Let me state clearly that we do not view this situation as a legal matter involving rule of law,” Kramer said. “The charges are clearly political in nature and without foundation.”

I Simply Cannot Trust What Mosab Yousef Says…
A few years ago, I was part of an audience that listened to Mosab Yousef say that the Muslim Brotherhood would NEVER amount to anything in Egypt. They would never gain dominance because there were too many well-informed, Democratically-minded young people who wanted true Democracy for their country.
Segue ahead to today and we not only see that the exact opposite has happened, but it has happened because the Muslim Brotherhood are made up of liars who want nothing more than to bring the caliphate into existence. They know they can accomplish this if they have a “president” of Egypt calling the shots.
What people do not either realize or care to know is that the Muslim Brotherhood has been working very hard in Egypt not only to squash anything outside of Islam including true Democracy, but to rid the country of Christians. They’ve been doing this by attacking Christians – literally – throwing them in jail, burning their churches to the ground, and taking everything they have. Many Christians have left the country, but too many have either been killed or injured because of the efforts of the Muslim Brotherhood and their pro-”Democracy” movement…
